Emmanuel McCarthy

I am a varied artist and have exhibited in many genres and mediums. Many of my older works were created through traditional forms such as oil paintings, acoustic and vinyl D.J. creations. As a New Media Art student, my recent creations involve screen-based music and sound media. I have also begun to incorporate my old skills into a new working set. I believe that art can encompass perspectives beyond conventional understanding. Sharing amongst artists has opened my eyes to different perspectives.

When creating, I like to consider what relevance traditional beliefs and fixed ideas have in a changing world. Through video storytelling, I implore new understandings of international politics, self and arts practice. The self is a complex arrangement, which encompasses perspectives beyond conventional understanding. By sharing these stories through my practice, I hope to reveal new perspectives on life. With a commitment to creative networks that practice mutual aid, I aim to empower communities with a stronger knowledge of emergent technologies through leadership skills and coaching. I hope that following tertiary graduation in 2016, I might be able to further develop these aspirations.
