Kathy-Maree Johnson

Hello, I’m Kathy-Maree Johnson and I’m from the local Townsville region.

My field of interest within the creative industry is digital illustration. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember as a self-taught freelance artist. Five years ago, I transitioned from traditional media to digital and I have never regretted that decision.

When I was younger, I was raised on TV, mostly on 90’s cartoons. Seeing amazing animation back then really made me want to learn how to draw. However, none of the teachers within my primary school wanted to teach the kind of art that I wanted to learn. So I taught myself and ever since then I have been learning new things every time I create.

In the future, I would love to find a more stable job within the creative industries. Currently, I am working as a freelance artist while completing my studies. My dream is to become a character designer, published author or a concept artist.

My artwork was digitally created in Painttool.sai with touch ups done in Clip Studio Paint. They are going to either be printed on large thick paper or projected on a screen as a GIF.
